Default French made VUILLEUMIER FRERES lathe info needed

what makes it "superb" as stated here: http://www.lathes.co.uk/vuilleumierfreres/

any info is welcome including a ballpark weight with that massive looking cast base and what oddball quirks it has being that it's french...

thanks,
dave

Whoo, monster threading dial. Presumably to hold all the marks needed to avoid swopping gears when threading metric. Which would probably be confusion city time. No wine with your lunch, Monsieur, when doing threading jobs.
Cross-slide dial / handle is very Gallic and the graphics designer clearly enjoyed herself.

Take the general descriptions from the lathes.uk site with a grain of salt---or for what they are, a glowing description written by a man who loves lathes. I'm not sure there is a machine on that site which isn't at least once called "superb" That said, I couldn't live without all the great info to be found there!
