    Default Late '90's Lion/Mashtroy C400TM 16x40 lathe. Need manuals/feed charts.

Well, it is a Euro lathe (Bulgaria) so hopefully this post is OK here.

This machine is new to me as of a couple weeks ago and is in good condition overall. Spoke with Johnny at International Machinery (importer/dist.) yesterday, he said it is the earlier model with the 2 speed motor which was made for a very short time, so some parts are hard to find. He was very helpful. The feed charts were printed, not stamped, so they are pretty much gone, save a few numbers. The latest model (now discontinued for 1.5 years) feed charts do not match up with my model for some reason. However, the thread chasing rates are a perfect match.

Wondering if anyone else on here has manuals for it or would have an idea of where to find them?

    Any info is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Smoooth

Thank you for the information, much appreciated.

I sent an email to them, hopefully they respond.

Are these machines very popular or well liked in Europe?

    Thanks again,

    Smoooth

    Hi Smooooth,

Until you mentioned the brand, I had never heard of them.
this doesn't say much as there are numerous machine manufacturers, small or large who start to export from Eastern Europe as those countries jointed the EU. this makes Export easy to them.
in the old days they sold their often under different names due the USSR system of central departments.

I won't or can't anything about the quality of those lathes, but assume It'll be a little less as a TOS lathe.
to me it looks a bit like a ZMM.

If Mashtroy is a serious company, they'll respond to your E-Mail.

    Bertus,

Mashtroy or ZMM did respond, they referred me back to International Machinery (which has been extermely helpful), but I had hoped for more.

I'm sure someone out here has a similar machine, but the odds are a little against me.

    Thanks,

    Smoooth

Is this the machine that was on ebay in Waukesha, WI?

I was so tempted to hit the buy it now. I'm too chicken to buy a used machine sight unseen.

    Ewlsey,

I believe it is the same machine. Has some wear, but not too bad. Worst thing is that most of the feed rate charts are wiped out. Cleaned up nicely, just had it running a couple days ago. Had to get a 10hp RPC as my 7hp was just not enough. The seller is a good, honest guy and I would not hesitate to buy from him again.

Still no luck finding anyone with a manual. I do have a feed rate chart (inch version) from the newer machine model. Of the 8 gear selection combinations, 5 match perfectly with my machine (a few numbers are still visible here and there) but 1 metric and 2 inch combos do not. Though, I may have a metric version as the dials are metric up front, inch to the back (secondary set of numbers). Perhaps that is the difference?
Suppose if I could read a few numbers and brush up my math skills, I could figure out the charts the hard way?

Will keep searching for the manuals. Please PM, post, or both with any info.

    Thanks,

    Smoooth
