Mystery compound rest/top slide on Weiler lathe

I came across this Weiler Matador lathe for sale that seems to have a compound rest/top slide that is not original to the machine, as far as I can tell. I'm waiting to hear back if the current owner knows any history of it. It seems to have an adjustment that allows the entire assembly to slide with respect to the center of rotation. The handwheel/dial sorta reminds me of ones I've seen on cheap Asian imports. It doesn't appear that this unit would have as much travel as the original. Anyone recognize this thing, or could it be a top slide from some other Weiler model? Thanks for any information.

Except for the LZ330 down in the lab, and a few new machines I've seen at trade shows like WesTec I can't say I know what cross slides are fitted to the Weiler offerings except for photos in the literature.

But that piece doesn't look original.

Now what it might have come from originally? Cripe! That's like asking which tree an apple came from when you pick it up off the grocer's shelf.
