wow...in the speed of day to day life...i missed the announcement. i hope perj will accept my belated condolences. its not often u meet an individual who really selflessly and thoughtfully impacted the world in a positive way. rip rj.

i apologize if the forum has already memorialized rj in its own way...i would like to suggest, in memory of rjs classy style, that we create a "sticky". a listing of high quality and helpful threads named the "RJ Newbould Memorial Thread Index" seems fitting to have one more super useful Newbould index(er)

Rj was that, calm and "almost" unshakeable, among his other excellent traits. He loved to laugh and all the years I've known him, I could hardly remember him being angry. He would be in a group discussion and the guys would get into a heated discussion, and there he would sit, listen and observe, but then when he would start talking, everyone would get quiet and listen. Sometimes he would say something serious, other times he would crack a joke. He was one who knew how to deliver a joke and when to say it.

I keep wishing lately that I should have written all the funny or witty things he'd said over the years. I'd probably have more than enough for a book considering that that was almost a daily occurrence.

PS. I was going to say calm and unshakeable but I can almost hear him say "almost", thus I added the word.

My Grandfather was much the same. DID get a chapter in a book. One Uncle matched him for great observation sense, "people skills", and general wisdom. The rest of the next two-plus generations, not so well. So it IS rare.

Meanwhile.. RJ had a lathe you want to move-on. Rather an ordinary one, AFAICS, but still - if it was good enough RJ could do useful work on it, it is good enough for lots of other folks.

I can't see him harbouring anything else, brand or nationality aside.

Is there no one here at all who can help Perje with that "project"?

I have been searching a bit for a buyer of the product line,
if Perj wants to sell it.

As almost all of Florida got whacked in the last few days, it would be nice to hear from Schatzi and others when they have electricity and internet.

My thoughts and prayers are with all at risk.

Just seeing this now. On one hand I am selfishly sad. On the other I am happy for a man that touched so many can now rest in peace.

Just received an email from Perj. Got through it all without any major problems. Electricity gone (of course) for a couple of days but apart from that got a feeling she'll post soon.

We're grateful we're alright and there's no major damage from hurricane Irma. I hope other members of PM from FL fared well also.

Would it be better to leave the plastic cover on a grinder if not to be used anytime soon, or would it be better to have it uncovered?

Thank you digger doug. It's open for discussion.

To scadvise, it reminds me of how rj would say, JR is the one with the money, I'm rj

Just got werd from Ft Myers that my G-ma's trailer came out unscathed.

Was expecting to be heading that way this weekend for repairs, but looks like I git to stay home.

The Collier Collection, A truly incredible car museum in Naples came through it with only minor damage as well, so I hear.

Best covered and the parts (surfaces) that could rust protected (thin oil).
