Winders 7 & Outlook 2010 (e-mail)
Sporting my first new putor.
Needed the capacity, and the speed is a super benefit.
Jury still out about "7". Too soon to tell.
But I am purdy darned sure about this e-mail! Purdy sure it sucks!
"Outlook 2010" has more gimmicky crap than a 5 axis CAM program! Hows come would someone go to all the trouble and take something as bloody well simple as e-mail, and make it the most complex BS known to bytes? Even after I have "shelved" as much as I have figgered out to, the screen left to view mail (remember mail?) is only 2/3 what it would have been on something old skewl mail.
We have not fingered out eny way to import the address book from XP to this here.
I believe that Mamma mentioned that the putor joint mentioned something about loading "9" onto it and being able to move all saved mails and address book and such. Would hafta dbl check on that tho.
Has enyone done this? How is "9"?
My "old" putor is to go into the house for my daughter to use for her senior yr yet, as the one that she was using died some time ago. However I doo have a Winders 98 unit that I use everyday as well, and I could use the mail on that one instead. Only thing is that I was really looking fwd to having XP to doo mail as that one has the return request (?) feature, and I use the '98 unit to make and send quotes, and it seems that sometimes they end up out in some black hole somewhere. (Prolly all compacted into a zip file? )
A) Does enyone like "2010"?
B) Has it "grown" on you? (I Shirley don't see this happening)
C) Has enyone switched to "OE9" on "7"?
C1) Is OE9 essentially the same as the old "6" (and older) that I am used to?
D) Why don't we have a 'Putor Issues" board on this site?
Since we are all on putors of some sort - we all would be having some issues eh? Course the problem with that is that no-one will be looking there the day (week?) that you are having troubles I guess. Maybe this thread is best?
D1) At least that way - a quick search could locate many legacy issues. .... ???
E) Does enyone really have a clue why they filth- filth fowl-fowl'd it all up?

I write programs for a living (well, retirement hobby these days).
There's a lot of reasons why I have an Apple Macbook. You've just touched on a few.
As I said, I write programs. I don't want to deal with a POS operating system that gets in my way. Vista was the last straw for me. I'll never go back to using a Microsoft operating system. Linux maybe, MS never.
Most of your mail problems would be solved by ditching the default mail program and installing a free open source one. Ditto for MS Office. I just use Open Office.

I think the main purpose is to single out those that would post post after post after post after post in order to "win" a pissing match of which signifigance would be only evident to himself. Congratulations on the victory Gordon. This helps explain alot.

I suppose in a debate/discussion the worst thing a person can experience is indifference. If a person doesn't give a damn one way or another then that's that
..........
Explaining why can make for a lot of useless posts unless a discussion is warranted.

True. These days I try to put my objections/whatever into a single post & move on if IMO it's not worth arguing about. Let someone else run their post count up arguing about stuff that doesn't matter or isn't going to change minds. I can't be bothered. Some subjects are entertaining to argue over, others just a waste of time.

The Lone Ranger's Last Request
The Lone Ranger was ambushed and captured
by an enemy Indian War Party.
The Indian Chief proclaims,
"So, YOU are the great Lone Ranger" ....
"In honor of the Harvest Festival,
YOU will be executed in three days."
"Before I kill you, I grant you three requests"
"What is your FIRST request ???'
The Lone Ranger responds,
"I'd like to speak to my horse."
The Chief nods and Silver is brought
before the Lone Ranger who whispers in
Silver's ear, and the horse gallops away.
Later that evening, Silver returns with
a beautiful blonde woman on his back.
As the Indian Chief watches,
the blonde enters the Lone Ranger's tent
and spends the night.
The next morning the Indian Chief admits he's impressed.
"You have a very fine and loyal horse",
"But I will still kill you in two days."
"What is your SECOND request ???"
The Lone Ranger again asks to speak
to his horse.
Silver is brought to him,
and he again whispers in the horse's ear.
As before, Silver takes off and disappears over the horizon.
Later that evening, to the Chief's surprise, Silver again returns, this time with a voluptuous brunette, more attractive than the blonde.
She enters the Lone Rangers tent and spends the night.
The following morning the Indian Chief
is again impressed.
"You are indeed a man of many talents,"
"But I will still kill you tomorrow."
"What is your LAST request ???"
The Lone Ranger responds,
"I'd like to speak to my horse, alone."
The Chief is curious, but he agrees,
and Silver is brought to the
Lone Ranger's tent.
Once they're alone,
the Lone Ranger grabs Silver by both ears, Looks him square in the eye and says,
Listen Very Carefully !!!!
FOR... THE... LAST... TIME...
I SAID ...

God Bless Little old Ladies
I love this one and I thought I
would passs it on to all of you !
It happened in an Underground station in London .
There were protesters on the concourse handing out pamphlets on the
evils of Britain .
I politely declined to take one.
An elderly woman behind me was getting off the escalator and a young
(20-ish) female protester offered her a pamphlet, which she politely
declined.
The young protester put her hand on the woman's shoulder as a gesture
of friendship and in a very soft voice said, 'Madam, don't you care
about the children of Iraq ?'
The elderly woman looked up at her and said, 'My dear, my father died
in France during World War II, I lost my husband in Korea and my
grandson in Afghanistan . All three died so you could have the right to
stand here and bad mouth our country. If you touch me again, I'll
stick this umbrella up your arse and open it.'
God Bless Great Britain (What we have left of it !!!!)

This thread 15 Interviews lost faith in humanity seems to have taken a turn closer to what this one is more about
I'll ask what should be a simple question.
Why do you work?
The answer "To make money" isn't acceptable
What I'd like to know is what do you do with the money you make that helps you and your family enjoy life?
Has anyone ever met a kid that would rather have parents that constantly worked rather than find the time to be with them even if it meant less "goodies" to play with and later on inherit?
I don't consider myself rich or poor but I am pretty content with my life and I suppose I always have been.
