Obama asking companies to pay suppliers faster - ABC-7.com WZVN News for Fort Myers, Cape Coral & Naples, Florida

Obama, corporate giants announce plan to boost suppliers | Reuters

Heard this on Marketplace on NPR today. This is the first time I've ever heard anyone in the media speak about large companies taking forever to pay.

Apparently there was already a program for government contractors where the government would pay them quickly if they agreed to pay their vendors quickly.

Hahahahahaha! I wonder what Walgreens sell's to the government?

Actually the Gov. contractors we work with pay on time most all the time... but as far as BamBam asking them to pay on time... Hahahahahahahah! :leaving:

The president will meet on Friday with representatives of household name firms such as Apple (AAPL.O) , AT&T (T.N), Coca Cola (COKE.O) and Johnson & Johnson (JNJ.N) to spotlight the corporate giants' pledge to pay their smaller suppliers within 15 days.

Really?

Ok, Bush II, Clinton, Bush I and Reagan being long gone ....

Having said that, does anyone here has a long term government related contract with any of those above mentioned companies?

I mean it's easy to be small compared to Apple, AT&T, Coke, J&J or name a bunch of other "household" giants, but come on?
Just who exactly is the most clueless one in that photo-op about government contractors and their small suppliers?

We should dump the machine shop and get into providing food, housing, lawyers, health care and education, $67,000 for each illegal alien! Thousands crossing the "secure" southern border per day, think of the money to be made on this latest obama debacle.

This has to be a joke right ??? Because if he's all for seeing small businesses (like machine shops) get paid quicker, I can't wait to see all of the Republican shop owners pile on against it. He can't possibly have a good idea or stand for something that's right. You guys kill me. So far, not one single POSITIVE comment. Even when the man supports a good idea that would benefit every single shop owner on this site......... you guys have nothing good to say about it. This is why I spend less and less time on this site.

The only joke is all the blind mindless supporters of his insanity, I hope my little machine shop survives for the next 2 years. then maby we will end up with someone who is at least a little bit business friendly, that way I can get rich standing on the heads of all my employees.

After all the threads from shop owners about slow payers. Now a president asks to have your dreams come true and get you paid on sooner and all you can do is poke fun at him?

I would guess that most of you who have commented so far are asking yourselves, What would rush limbaugh have to say about this? Typical of the knuckle dragging "conservative" crowd.

If only we could go back to the time when Obama took office. Things were so much better then. That is the fantasy world you conservatives live in.

In case you can't remember, the country was on the verge of total bankruptcy when Obama took office.

Our fearless leader speaks a couple of words and gets a few photos. What business leader is going to change the payment habits of his company based on lip service? Janet Yellen or the IRS both have the power to force the change through regulations. If one of those two act, I will give credit where credit is due.

#1 Capitalism has many flaws? Conceded
#2 Business sector after every dollar? Conceded.
#3 Business big hitters squeeze smaller companies in search of goal #2, one method being not paying on time? Conceded.

I started this thread specifically criticising business ethics.
Business ethics, yesterday, today and tomorrow.

There is one area where PM shop owners and GM, BP et al have common ground, every person on the payroll has to make a contribution.

This is not the case in the UK where Government, both central and local, have innumerable “staff” who not only produce SFA but in many cases are counter-productive. The previous UK (Labour) Government commissioned a report into public sector efficiency and effectiveness. The report concluded that the work could be carried out by half the number of staff!

Worse still, in the UK the only people, apart from senior management in the private sector, who can expect to retire early and receive index linked pensions, are those “working” for the Government.

Worst of all, when jobs were scarce here, Labour were importing people to give them “non” jobs or benefits – because that is how they get their votes.

Anyone in the USA familiar with this situation?

Obama does not care about PM readers, he wants to bash big business, if he can look good doing it, so much the better.

I bet Obama has had the best constitutional lawyers in the USA looking through electron microscopes for justification for running twice more a la FDR.

I say we put Louis lerner's emails and Hillary's truthfully testimony on Benghazi on net 30 due to the New executive order by the Pretender. I'm sure the business community, especially the coal and oil industry will do as he asks since he has been so friendly to them . BTW did Solara pay all bits invoices before it went tits up?

Quote of the Century

A friend sent this to me a couple of days ago. It's titled "Quote of the Century"

An editorial penned by former Czech president Vaclav Klaus criticizes those who voted for Barack Obama.

CZECH PRAGUE NEWSPAPER ARTICLE --

An article in the Prague newspaper, Prager Zeitungon:

"The danger to America is not Barack Obama, but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools, such as those who made him their President."

For those of you who voted for him. Think about that the writer understands how Socialism worked for his country of Czechoslovakia under the communists.

I suppose I should have known where this would go...

I know I'd rather have net 90+ than give Obama a wink of approval.

Would anyone here like to have the country go back to where we were when Obama took office? I sure wouldn't.

Richard King: Your "quote of the century" sure looks like something rush limbaugh's writers would write. Does anyone care what a former Czech president thinks about our president? I don't.

I accept credit cards , and 1/2 down and 1/2 on delivery that's how I did the last gov deal it was around 150k . :) .Everything that a independent machine shop seems to need and stand for is under attack . So its hard to get excited about one thing that may have an agenda .
