Default FP1 coolant pump?

I recently picked up about a 1972 fp1 and have a question about the coolant pump and I'm a little confused after looking at the manual.

On page 11 "To turn the coolant pump on or off, turn the control knob 9 to the right or to the left, respectively."

On page 12 "...render the pump inoperative by turning control knob 9 to the right to disengage the clutch."

Which is it? I realize I will know soon enough once I get it wired up, but that may be a few more weeks.

Don't need to wire it up - just turn the black wheel at the back with the door open at the bottom.

So, in summary... The pump is purely mechanical. It is one of the few things in the I don't think ever changed on the machine over the many years it was produced. I also suspect that only 5% of the people that have the machines now actually use coolant so it is probably academic....

Anyhow, you'll be able to figure out which is on easily.... ONe will rattle, the other will not!

Thanks guys, that's easy enough. I was just a little suprised that the manual contradicted itself on the oposite sides of the same page.
