Default Mori-Seiki Sl-1 "Free" to good home!

I have a 1978 Mori-Seiki SL-1 that I really really really need to get out of my shop. The spindle drive blew about a year and a half ago and it has been sitting ever since. I received an estimate of approx. $2,500.00 to have it retrofitted with an AC drive, but to me it is not worth the money, since I have two other Cnc lathes that run just fine, and 80% of the work we do is milling.

The machine aside from the spindle drive ran GREAT and made beautiful parts. The control is a Yasnac 2000B. I honestly hate to scrap it, because I think someone with the knowledge to fix it themselves could make some very good money with this machine, I don't have that knowledge, nor do I have the time, but I need the space....BAD!

I have all kinds of tooling for the machine, 5C collet adapter, 6" chuck, assorted jaws, and it's all there and in great shape. I don't want a penny for it, just need it gone. If I don't get any response in the next couple weeks from either on here in the forum, or other places I list it, I will consider parting it out, but for now, it is NOT an option. The machine would not have to rigged out of my shop, a flatbed tow truck could winch it right out, so it should be a cheap "fairly easy" move. Pics below.

Later,
Russ

Ebay will get it out of there, Russ.

Also, put it in the Machinery For Sale section of PM...

So far I have a few interested parties, so I will see what pans out first before heading to ebay. Thanks for the advice!

Default Machine is spoken for......as of now.

Thank you to all who responded to the free machine, but as of right now it is spoken for by the very first person who contacted me, and it should be removed within two weeks.

Should things not pan out for whatever reason I will contact the person next on the list who expressed an interest in the machine.

Thanks again,

Best Regards,
Russ

Throw up some sheetrock!! Holy crap....like I got time for that.

Besides, they're all cnc's......no chips outside! All the manuals are in a different room and it's all finished off. Maybe some day when I get two days off in a row, I will think about it! For now though.....it's back to work....and on a Sunday....no double time.....Geezz!!

My old friend Mori has left the building! Despite the pouring rain, (and I mean by the buckets!).....we got it all rigged out and loaded onto the new owners truck (who just happens to be a member of this forum) and hopefully by now it is sitting in his shop somewhere in NY.

Hope he makes a pile of money with it! Good Luck George!

Best Regards,
Russ
