Default Newbie needing a Lathe

Hey guys, i been on this site for a while. i have been using a Smithy brand Lathe and Mill machine for 7 yrs, and i sold it about 4 hrs ago
It was a good amchine to learn on, but Smithy has already discontinued that model so I have discontinued supporting Smithy
I would like to buy a South Bend or Logan Lathe. here what i am looking for:
10 to 13 inch swing, 20 to 36 inch centers, Aloris style quick change toolpost, 3 jaw chuck,110 or 220 volt single phase, 1 1/4 to 1 3/8 spindle bore, quick change qear box, Taper attachment would be a plus, colletts would be nice, but i have never used colletts, so i probably don't know what i am missing, and i will want the Lathe on a bench or cabinet.
It would be a convience if the Lathe was within a 10 to 12 hr radius of northwest Texas.
I will say sorry in advance for the " Long Wish List"
thanks Alan Speyrer aesracingllc.com

Alan, if you haven't already, you should also post this in the Machinery For Sale Or Wanted section:

A Heavy 10 would fit you bill.
I have a 9a and use collets if I have the option but with 3c collets the only go up to 1/2 inch.
A Heavy 10 would be to use the larger 5c collets.
You didn't state what kind of work you would use the lathe for.
A South Bend 13 is a much larger heavier machine and is more capable.

That 10 in the pics is what i am looking for, just can't find any within a reasonable distance from me. ideally i would like to pick it up in person and not take someones word on its " condition "

A lot of times you just have to be patient and then be prepared to go on a road trip.
I drove from Sacramento to Los Angeles to pick up my lathe.
I went solo because they had someone to help load but often you'll need a road dog and tools.

Mission Viejo, is at the Southern end of the LA/Orange County Megalopolis.
It's about 450 miles form Sacramento, but the last 50 is through LA Metro.
