No nibbles in 12 hours so the thread needs bumping? That seems a little obsessive. I've only just gotten on the forum since before bed last night and this is the activity? If they weren't tools I could make good use of last week, that won't have changed overnight. I'm sorry your score turned out to be such a pain to move but I can't fix that for you.

As for no nibbles in 12 hours, I got a bit over anxious as my last thread dissipated into the void. Formating all of the text by hand wasn't much fun.

EDIT: Just realized that post older than a couple days were being hidden by my browser / lower selections areas. Cool.

He is also a little heavy on sales vs participation

Well, I've posted 3, no 4 total sales threads...ever. I have posted and been up dating this:

http://www.practicalmachinist.com/vb/general/i-just-became-tree-hugger-tree-2uvr-c-293440/

since November of last year. Kind of a play by play with photos and what not. Learned a whole lot from the process and all of the other PM members who have offered insight and awesome advice. Does this meet the standard of participation? Just curious.

I've moderated other forums for 15 years. This is a great forum. The function of a moderator is is to keep out spam and inappropriate content, not post counting and harassing people who make legitimate posts. I get that you want forum participation if people are going to sell stuff, but a participation to sale ratio???? Seriously? Why? Somebody explain that to me. It's childish behavior. Grow up.

I have participated in many forums over the last 15 years and this one has really good participation and longevity.
Why?
Rules and active moderation!
There are rules posted, read them, follow them, and STFU until you understand them.
The sales to participation ratio ensures that this does not turn into a commercial marketplace, and that we get the chance to learn about the people posting so we can get a level of trust before we send them money.
That means there are far fewer scams here then almost any other marketplace I have ever used.

Personally I think KC130Loadie passes the test, but it 'aint up to me.

Well.....this For Sale thread just got weird!

Mebfab, sent you a PM. (Medfab - You Inbox is full, here's the PM I sent):

Hey Mebfab,

When I read the Rules sticky, I saw the rule for only 2 For Sale posts per day, but did not realize there was a "normal conversation" post V.s. "For Sale" Ratio.

I assume that every time I "bump" the thread, this goes to a For Sale tally as opposed to a conversation tally?

If I began to infringe on any rules or netiquette, my sincerest apologies. I am new to the machinist world, including the use of forums such as this one. Chalk it up to being a newb on all fronts.

For my future reference, is there a hard ratio of FS V.s. Normal posts, or is there any way for a normal user to see a breakdown of their activity this way?

I'd just like to err on the side of caution next time.

Thanks for the input.

Kit
