Sorry, I'm a newborn to this forum stuff. I'm looking for advice or support to locate parts for my 1934 S/B toolmaker benchtop 9 x 36 lathe, S/N 53443

I need an apron.

I have a 9 C apron and saddle in v-good condition. Problem is the 9 C saddle fits the ways but the width of the dove tail on top is wider. Also, the 9 C apron bolts up normally to my existing saddle and functions but the half nut has a LH thread and my lead screw is 3/4 x 8 RH.

Is it possible to get the 9 C half nuts in a RH configuration?

Any suggestions on sourcing a toolmaker apron?

The Toolmaker has been referred to as short lived on this forum, so no dedicated how to books as per other post

The facts of old unsupported machine tools is you either find an identical machine as a donor of parts, or you make them from scratch

The "9c" apron you have must be from a 405, which is the only lathe I know of that South Bend made with a left hand leadscrew. The standard half-nuts are right hand and should be easy to find.

i hope someone here cane help me on my tool maker. its a 420-Y serial number is short and no lettering either,,, my apron is broke in half and has been repaired with plates and nut n bolts, that and the fack that the entire compound feed is flat wore out, will a entire carriage from an a or b or even a c work on mine, im sure that i have the standard rht feed screw, the head stock dont have any slop in it that i have noticed but it does have a piece brok off that goes around the back gear spindle on the side close to the change gears, dont hurt it from running so i guess ill be welding that back on, it was passed on to me and i dont want to invest to much into it as i can just save the time and get a lathe in far better condition for 1k,,,,

well how this plays out, im in ohio and my 420-y lathe has a serial of 53445 they must of been born minuets apart but move miles away lol tag on mine has some machinery company of dayton ohio embossed as well, i need the entire carriage for mine, apron is broke in half and was repaired with plates and nuts n bolts, the break looked like it was a clean snap with no flaring or burs, dont know or cant imagine how it happened but it has, and how does the wheel on the tail stock get broken off from the spokes, it was braised back but it happened to. it does run and it does cut, was given to me and i have made a few left hand acme screws for the 4 jaw chucks that came with it, turned a shaft and knurled for grip to build a wire stripper for a friend. and a few other od ball things
