1976 Southbend 13 inch lathe apron

I have a hole in the top of my apron on the right side just left of my thread dial
the hole has no threads. Could someone tell me the purpose of this hole? Thanks Gary

From what I understand they are hard to find. Your best bet would be to ask forum member http://www.practicalmachinist.com/vb/members/sblatheman/.

nice drawing by a member of an easy to make replacement. You do not need a mill.

How do you make that shoe without a mill? Just wondering. (Fortunately, I have one.)

Start with stock of the right tickness, hacksaw and file,drill and tap.
Easier than it sounds...
