Finally got my 9c all apart and cleaned up ready to restore.
Problem i see is the main shaft and corellating bearing surface are a bit scored.
Should i just clean it up a bit and run it or should I be turning the shaft down and make a new bearing for it to ride on?
This is just a small Hobby lathe ,I have a 9a waiting for its resto and that one will be my one for main use.20180506_180848.jpg

We get asked this by nearly every first time SB owner, and the answer is always the same. Clean any adhered lumps of cast iron off of the spindle using something softer than the spindle (cheap file, aluminum or brass or soft steel block). Then put it back together with new wicks and use it. You'll never notice those marks in use.
