There is some play in the compound rest on my SB9 which I am not able to correct, I dissembled and thoroughly cleaned and tightened as much as I can but the play is still there.
What can be done to correct this problem.

thanks,
Bluearc

Not 100% familiar with you lathe, but in general that "slop" will taken up by the gibbs. Is that what you were referring to when you "tightened it down:? If not I might start there. Usually there are two one on the side and one on the back.

What kind of play... side to side or when feeding?

The problem was the dovetail is worn on that certain spot when it was set there, I repositioned the compound and it was ok.
