That one looks like it will be pretty good once you stone down any high spots.

I would do whatever rebuilding you are going to do and run it first. The trig may just work out to where it not noticeable.

My lathe has maybe a thou of wear and I can turn a damn straight part with it.

There must be a Machinery Consultants #2 in Connecticut! ‘Cuz they are the pros of 300% markup... They do brush paint all over their machines, though.

Not them, but I think I have seen some of their machines advertised - I would take 25% off for the paint job :-)

I think the story was they they bought the building with all the machines in them (think about what machines someone would leave behind), then they sold the building and moved the machines off site. Machine tools is not their business, so they have no idea what is good or bad and what things are worth. I have offered to help, but they have not take me up on it.

RE: the OPs way wear. As a friend often reminds of the Russian proverb "Perfect is the enemy of good enough"

Your ways are fine. As others have stated, stone them and run the lathe.

OK, I've held off for *days* and I just can't resist....

If you're concerned about your ways, I know a priest who can help!

(OK, got it off my chest.) ;-)
