Could I get a little input on an old workshop lathe

I pick this up in a few days? It had obviously been restored. But looks to be in good shape. From my research it appears to be a 1937 workshop model 15 lathe. Would this be correct? I'm new to south bend and have a million questions. I also have a video is like to get input on how she sounds.

See below until I can figure out how to edit.

Oh wow. I read through the stickies and thought I read that I needed to use a third party host. Thanks man, I'll give it a whirl.

Restored????? No, painted up as a circus wagon. Who is the mental midget that is responsible for that abomination?

It looks like the workshop might have been Santa’s, but if it functions well and serves your needs, then Christmas coming early and lasting year round isn’t a bad thing if it involves getting yourself a lathe. If you’d like, please post a video link to it running when you can.

Ho ho ho, you guys are funny. I'm having trouble uploading the video. I currently have a cheap 9 x 20 import piece of junk, so this old boy has got to be a better solution for my turning. Only cost my a couple hundred bucks. Comes with the custom built stand which holds the motor underneath. All the hardware on the bench was made on the lathe. Pretty neat. Unfortunately the old boy who owned it has passed, so i bought it from his son who just wants it gone. I'll try to up load the short video another way. But would you guys agree, this has got to be better then that cheap thing I'm using?

Oh it includes a drawer full of original tooling, tool holders, centres, drill chucks and a bunch of things I can't identify until it's on my possession.

Hey! I'm a Californian and my machine tools do not look like a clown car, and they never will.
My lathe is still sporting a light grey coat of paint somebody slapped on in the 1950's.

Having been in the Seabee's I have a natural aversion to gray and green paint, so I tend to like other paint schemes. (but being cheap I tend to use whatever color I have around...) I always wondered why people get so spun up about a machine tool painted something other than gray. Californian now but from New Jersey. Much better weather. Jim

I had to do a double take to make sure you weren't the guy who bought my old Heavy 10. I painted it the same color. Same spindle, too.

I like the stand from what I can see of it, and really, the paint doesn't matter to me. You should see the first "lathe" I had, it was brutal! And what I had before that... well, it's just too embarrassing to even mention. It's great that you got the whole outfit and that you can also appreciate the hardware the previous owner fabricated. The high from getting a new lathe is a wonderful thing. Enjoy.

Better photos. One of the lower motor. Which I will replace with a variable speed DC motor. From what I can tell it looks like the lathe was in good hands. The old boy referbed it many years ago. We're Canadian, maybe that explains the colours. But to be honest, colour doesn't bug me. I own some pretty amazing old machines and a couple all original. I'd he just as happy in pink. I use my machines hard.
