Depth of bench for a 9A?

Looking at building a bench for the lathe I recently acquired. I haven't had it set up yet, so I don't know how "deep" the countershaft assembly and everything is. Would 24" deep be enough, or should I go for more? Thanks

24" would be pushing it for the standard set up.

I know you can get by with 30"

Mine is 24" wide.

Only works if you do NOT have a taper attachment. Note the interference with the motor.

30” is about right. The adjusting rod on the picture above has been cut down and rebent, the motor is not from the factory suppose to be that close to a the lathe head. My bench is 32” wide and I’m building another bench a couple inches narrower for my newer lathe.
