Tom, the doghouse latch went with the door, alas scrappers got it. feed screw gearbox looks good, going now to pull more parts, post more pics later.

The spindle is bronze bearing, and as far as I can tell the cross hatching on the journals is from the factory polish (!)

buggsy, got the taper attachment off, the cross slide screw suffered from the abuse, and is a bit bent, also one of the more worn parts, showing a bit in the center most used area. I will be back in the AM and take more pics, phone batt. died this afternoon.

v8, can you use the spindle with the bronze bearings? given the condition, maybe you should take the whole headstock? this thing is really nice. the gearbox looks great, very little wear. the slight ridge in the photo is the worst of it from first looks.(on the left of that image, right side is grease) outside, not so nice.

True, but if I had a complete unit to start with it would save me the effort vs building it from components, especially if all that needed to be done is shorten it up. Its not at the top of my priority list, just thinking if it was me or the scrap man, I'd rather have it.

buggsy, here are some pics of the taper attachment. img_6153.jpgimg_6156.jpgimg_6150.jpgimg_6151.jpg

the guide block slides freely at one end, there are some dings that need to be stoned out for it to slide the whole way. flaking on the whole ways

that is the bend in the screw, slightly exaggerated by a non flat surface, and the worst wear area.

nt, your flat rate box is ready to go, surprise blizzard yesterday kept me from getting that out, should go tomorrow.

buggsy, I have to get a weight for the shipping cost, will try to get that tomorrow, monday. I did find the bed clamp, it might have the large bore for the collet drawbar holder, but can be bushed to fit the rod on the taper attachment. I will check on that and send pics.

v8, have to get the shipping cost for you too. its two crates, but those are some nice crates. will measure the leadsscrew tomorrow also.

Brian, sorry, just reread the thread. the mic stop is not looking good at all, the threading dial is missing, and the taper bed clamp and rod(as we discussed) is going with the taper attachment. anything else you are looking for?

    No worries...

I am good. I will be able to get the bed clamp from Ted and the micrometer stop isn't that big of a deal.

I concur, that it was in very poor taste for the other poster to add his parts for sale in your thread. He should delete his post and write up a thread of his own.

The taper attachment clamp is supposed to have babbit in the hole where the rod from the TA goes through. I think the one for the collet rack just doesn't have the babbit in there. Simple enough to pour it and make it do the job, or you could make a bushing. Mine at least isn't quite centered though, which is why I presume they used babbit.

Still interested in the drawbar if its not already spoken for. I would be modding it though, so if someone needs it for what it is I'll let them go first.

gadget, thanks for that on the babbit, or as many do, just use a stack of washers.. (not pretty!).

I have a guy near me who has a drawbar for a 16 (I think, haven't seen it yet) that he says is new in the box, if I get over to look, will post pics.

nt, its off to you. still haven't had time to weigh parts and crates for the others, actually have to get some work done to keep the lights on! will try tomorrow, thanks all

truth be told I need one for a 10L, but if one for another model showed up cheap enough I'd take it and modify. I'd hate to hack on a new one.

Received my parts today. Arrived relatively unscathed given the weight. Thanks Tim.
