Is Grease the answer?

I've been putting the C oil in my cone pulley on my 44' 10L. Problem is, it slowly weeps oil out the fill hole while running making my middle cone slick and my belt always wants to slip off. I'm wondering if the grease stevewb sells would cure this problem? How is it working out for you guys that are using it?

It works for some, others have issues with the cone heating up.

Regardless it seems you have sealing issue that needs to be addressed- grease may slow it down but probably won't cure it.

SORRY COULD NOT RESIST

The screw in the cone pulley is supposed to have cone point for sealing. I would guess the original screw was lost and a standard set screw was used.

There is also that spring ball detent system they used later on, if there is gunk around the ball bearing it might not be sealing.

This is typical...obviously its not sealed.

Not so obvious to me, there's a taper on that plug. If it goes against the corresponding seat, it could be used to seal It. there must be a purpose to that taper or else it would not be their. That's an extra operation and expense.

I meant that obviously, the plug is not sealing off the cone. See the first pic of the oil leak.
