Grizzly Single Phase motor Replacement for 10R

This motor, used on Grizzly SB lathes, seems like the perfect replacement. I'm thinking this might be a better option than a VFD. If I ever purchase an upgraded lathe (10L 4.5ft bed) and sell this lathe I would think hobbyists would probably prefer a direct plug in lathe. Opinons?

In what way, besides price, do you believe it would be better than a VFD system?

Simplification, price, and appeal to for someone who doesn't understand why a VFD is an excellent choice, but just wants something to plug in. The original motor is also only 1/2hp and since I'm planning on a 1-3/8" spindle swap I could use the extra 1/4hp.

My other idea was to use a Fugi AF300, install it where the drum switch is and keep the Westinghouse 1/2hp 3 phase motor.

You home shop guys crack me up! Yup that extra 1/4 hp is going to turn that little toy lathe into a real animal! Good grief, even with the extra hp it is smaller than most coolant pumps! Griz motor??? Remember, chinese horses are small.....
