Default Has anyone else done this?

i have bought a cast base and leg from a 10L- i plan to mount my 10K to this base as soon as i have my 9" rehab up and running. has anyone else done this? any pitfalls to this or advice anyone can give me on this would be much appreciated. the 10L base is complete minus the motor and i plan to use my existing 10K cone pulley and use a 1 hp 3 ph motor driven by a Teco 50(115v in- 3 ph out) from tools4cheap. all i can think of that i will need to do is make an adapter plate to go from the 10K to the 10L base. what do you think?

    Cool

So your 10K is an underdrive machine now? I don't see why it won't work with some rigging. I have a few extra cast bells for future projects too...Bob

I think worst case, you could get some heavy rectangular tubing and bolt it between the casting and legs to form a bench of sorts, then bolt the 10K to that. I think a couple of inches of lift would be welcome. Of course, you would have to plan around the belt, and you would want to plan on the 10K bolting right over or very close to over the casting and legs, so the tubing is more or less a long spacer. Most likely, you won't need to bother with the tube frame.

The castings sure are heavy, and heavy is better for a lathe. It will likely add some stability to the 10K. It will be interesting to see how it levels when done. You may need to shim between the 10K and the legs/casting. It might be best to get the legs and casting very close to level before bolting the 10K to it.

You may end up with a very nice combination for super accurate work
