Bought this Dumore grinder in a lot. not sure what it is or does besides grinding. There is a large pulley? on the back of the grinder as well. Has an old style tool post that folds down. Came in a built to fit Dumore box with tooling. There is a keyed chuck that slides the motor up and down the ways to move the grinder in and out. There's also a fitted stationary base to mount the unit into held in place with thumb screws. There are four holes in the side of the motor looks to be a way to use it in a different application. Its in great shape, spools up nicely doesn't look like it was ever used. Any insight would be appreciated.

Dumore 20G is a tool post grinder, made approximately 1920 through 1945 according to the Intertubes. I don't know the specific purpose of the base and platen, but seems likely it would have been used for sharpening tools as a small bench grinder. Originally, it probably came with at least one additional grinding spindle and mounting bracket, to be driven by the pulley on the end of the motor, and probably bracket screwed to the motor body.

I've seen many of these both retrofitted and designed to be used as a benchtop grinder. It would appear this was a dual purpose grinder due to the original mounting for bench and toolpost. I just purchased 2 at auction this past week. Both were toolpost grinders, but one had been mounted directly to a bench.
