heavy 10 apron oil capacity

Hi all,how much and what type of oil to put in the apron? Also should I put oil in while I have the top removed?(seems easier)Dont have the lube schedule nameplate on the beltguard anymore.Thanks,jim

Hi There,

The apron uses "A" oil in the apron. This is the same oil used for the spindle bearings in the headstock. This is an ISO 22 spindle oil. Many people (including myself) use Mobil Velocite No. 10 Spindle Oil. The oiling instructions just say "Keep Full" (meaning the oil cup). You can add oil from the top (I assume that you have the saddle off) until it overflows out the oil fill cup. That is all it can hold and keeping it full is recommended.
