I built this when I first got my lathe after seeing something similar a friend of mine had on a Taiwanese lathe. With a quick 1/4 twist of the thumb screw I can slide it where it needs to be and lock it in place. It slides back out of the way just as easy. I didn't drill the ways as it is located where 2 holes were already in place. I just had to work around the oil cups so it was still functional. I hope it works for someone else.
