Hi,

Does anyone know how to remove the two idler gears on the back of a SB 9 1940. I took of the back nut but still wont budge.

I am putting on a thrust bearing for the spindle.

Thanks a lot,

J C

You mean the two little gears on the reverse tumbler? You don't pull those, you remove the whole reverse tumbler from the headstock.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. How do I remove the reverse tumbler? I got the square bolt and the one gear off, but nothing more.

I figured it out. Sorry for the basic questions. I had to remove the large flange on the bottom gears for the tumbler to slide out.

Got my thrust bearing on the back of the spindle now and it makes a huge difference in performance.
