Looking for a 5" threaded back 3 jaw chuck.
I have an 11" Moody lathe (South Bend clone made in Canada) with a 1 1/2"-8 TPI threaded spindle nose. I am looking for a new or used 5" 3 jaw self centering chuck with a threaded back. If anyone has a recommendation or a suitable chuck it would be greatly appreciated.
The lathe can be seen here:
Thanks in advance

Look on the Plaza Machine website. There are at least two 5" 3-jaw chucks there for $100 - $150. They'll be way toward the end of the metal working list, mabye around item #223 in the section that has lathe chucks.

You might want to check with Jeff Beck. (tools4cheap.net) He has some pretty good deals on chineese chucks with pre-threaded backplates. 1 1/2-8 is a pretty common size on South Bends and also many others. I know he has them, and his prices are very reasonable.

Corbin, I just got a Cushman 5" three jaw chuck that came with my 60's SB 9A. I have no idea what it's worth, but I'm unlikely to use it. Lemme know if you want to discuss it.
