Good Morning All:

I am mounting a 9" Model A Lathe and while cleaning and measuring for bolt holes in the new bench, I found a tag on the rear of bed below the right end of the headstock:

FC
J 4 18

There may also be a "1" or an "I" in front of the "FC", but it looks more like a part of the tag. Also, the "4" could be an "A" that was incompletely stamped.

Machine Cat. No. is CL 644 Y
Machine Ser. No. is 29545 NAR 9

Could anyone tell me what this tag means?

Thanks

Capt. Art

A photo might help. Probably a property tag from one of the previous owners. My 13" has an oblong tag that reads "CAL. POLY - K 2390".

This means it was at one time property of California State Polytechnic College - Kellogg Campus, my old alma mater. Maybe I used it back in the day (over 45 years ago)!
