Missing Parts from a Heavy 10

My new acquisition heavy 10 is missing the following parts:

1: SHOE, PT1080NK1
2: SHOE, PT1076TH1

The first shoe is from the cross-slide dial (see pics). The compound dial is also missing its shoe (same part number). The second shoe is from the tail stock dial.

Can anyone tell me what the material is for these shoes? Is it brass, or some type of fiberous material?

Brass will work fine.

A small hunk of brass is the usual fare.
Its propose is to protect the shaft from screw marks.
Ohhh and Thanks I never knew the name....
Shoes go figure.

Yep, "shoe" is what the parts manual calls them.

A small chunk of brazing rod with no flux works just fine...

Does anyone have the dimensions of these "shoes"? I have some 1/8" brass rod that I was going to cut two 1/8" pieces for the cross and compound dials and a 1/2" piece for the tailstock dial. Not knowing the dimensions is really no big issue, I was planning on "filing to fit, painting to match", but a good starting point would be useful.
