Need help re-assembling 9/10k apron clutch

Unfortunately when I took my 10k apart to clean and repaint, I didn't take very good photos of the apron to help me re assemble. 2 questions: to those that have dis and reassembled the apron, am I arranging the spring and half moon / butterfly clips on the clutch correctly? And question #2 the end of that little spring broke off and I used all I had on hand to re-attach (solder). Does anyone think this will be an issue long term? Unfortunately I can't find this part for sale anywhere or I would just replace it.

you have them backwards. tightening the clutch pulls the pin out, which pushes the two half circles into the brake pads.

So just flip that small spring upside down?

mine didn't have that spring. no, flip the buterfly parts around. so when you pull the pin out towards the operator of the lathe, it pushes the clutch pads out into the gear.

That is interesting...no retainer clip in mine either.
What year is the lathe?

Mines a mid 50s 10k. To be honest, it seems to have gone together just fine without the clip, so I'm not worried about replacing it but am kind of curious why it's there.

Mine's a 48-ish 9, and I don't believe it was shipped with a spring installed.
