My friend just bought a lathe and got this with the lathe. And has ask me what this is? I should know but for the life of me can't not think of the name. Can someone help me name this and what is it use?

Yes, it looks like a collet chuck... are you wanting to keep it or part ways with it?
If you want to sell it knowing the back style and collet style will make things better.

What size collets does it take? It will say it right on the face. Could be 5C, 1J, 2J, etc...

I have some 1J's he can have for cheap.

I purchased one for work in 2007. It was made by ATS workholding. Quality was top notch, though I haven't seen a Hardinge made Sjogren.
