I was looking at tool grinders and I came across this. It needs an electric motor. Its kind of big for what my intentions were, I was looking more for a benchtop grinder with table and such to set and cut angles. Most surface grinders I've seen the O.D. of stone rides over the work. Anyone use this type or have any thoughts ? A guess on value ? Sorry only one pic available atm.

    Maybe HAMMOND

Excellent for aluminum oxide grinding of such as hefty HSS lathe tools, or silicon carbide (green wheels) for shaping hefty brazed carbide lathe tools, but not finishing their cutting edges which needs to be done on diamond wheels

One supposes diamond wheels for this may be available for pricey type costs - in fact ALL these "plate mounted" style wheels are more and more out of the ordinary

I went ahead and picked this up, got it for $180, so I figure I can't go too wrong. Based on what I'm finding I figure its late 40's to mid 1950's. I posted more pics and info in the antique machinery thread if anyone is curious:
