What are the little push-in round head rivet things that hold the gearbox and other plaques in called and are they still made? Apparently I am not calling them the proper name as nothing I search for comes up.
 
Drive screws, if spiraled, or knurled pins, if not. GripNail calls their proprietary version a "DriveTack".

Yes, they are still made, and readily available if you search for "drive screw".
 
Thanks so much. Over 1/2 hour of searching. I should asked here first. McMaster has every imaginable size under drive screw.
 
Since we're on the topic...does anyone know of a guideline for how much smaller to drill the hole prior to inserting this type of fastener?

I'm assuming it can be a higher percentage of helical "thread" engagement the softer the material is?
