The interesting thing about grandpa's pic here is the carriage stop.That picture is SBL standard footage that appears several places.The caption on it reads: a lathe can last a mans lifetime. This fella really drives that message home.Just a piece of 1936 for modern marketing magnates.
Anyway back to our little thing.What kind of a carriage stop is that? Did grandpa make it or is it an sbl part from waaayback.I look at everything SBL and I havnt seen that one anywhere else.The carriage stop on my 13 is equally as unique (I made it)This one appears to have a thumbscrew on the clamp piece,and a plate on the body with two small screws.Definitely an interesting piece.
That's a darn good idea. I was thinking about making a bolt on adapter, but instead I could just go from MT4 to South Bend and it would be so much easier to use than having to unbolt and bolt and then dial indicate an adapter.
I have only been using a South Bend threaded spindle for a few years and LOVE it. I don't even bother to change jaws any more just spin on a three jaw inside grip chuck for an outside grip chuck, take about as long to complete as it does to go get a wrench for a bolt on chuck.

In your Photobucket album, when cursor hovers over a photo, various icons and text appear below.
At the bottom of the text, select LINK OPTIONS.
This brings up a selection of tick boxes.
Under IMG for Bulletin Boards & Forums, tick Full Size and Clickable Thumbnails.
These two boxes subsequently appear under all photos.
(hint: you can untick all the other boxes if you don't require them)

Now, let's say you want a clickable thumbnail. Go to your image in Photobucket, hover cursor over the image, and when IMG Thumb appears, left click on the code to the right, and copy (ie right-click and select 'copy') the highlighted code.

If you post this it will bring up unwanted Photobucket gubbins (adverts etc). I had to find the way round this, as follows. Say the file code is:-

Recently brought home a 1938 SB459A . It is a 9" lathe with a 4' bed , that has a 2 1/4" x 8tpi spindle thread and 1 3/8' through hole . Hoping to post some pictures .
Paula, what is your Grandfather's name and what year do you think that was taken, those people built this country to be great through hard work, they were the real craftsman, thanks for the photo, I would like to put his name and date on the photo and put it in my shop with my SB soon as I get it restored, thanks, Joe G.
My grandfather was a coal miner -- a hard worker and a good man, though I like to think that he could have operated that lathe as well as anyone, had he put his mind to the task. I'm in full agreement with the sentiments you expressed, however.

(hint: you can also force the selections to show without a mouseover (show always)

If you remove the " ?action=view¤t= " and use IMG thumb you get the above

You have to click the thumbnail to see the difference. This could be a benifit if you wanted to place someone in your PhotoBucket album with a thumbnail link to get them there.
NOTE: If you get crazy with the tags you will get an Vbulletin error from PM. See Below

You've got it right. Thumbnails will not be captioned unless you use the method of uploading your photo to the forum server (see addendum to first post in this thread).
There is no size limit on an image merely linked from your post (whether with a URL or with a thumbnail), since it opens in a new window/tab. The size limit only applies to images which open directly within your post (640 pixel-width recommended, 800 if needed).
Paula - Are you still using "Photo Bucket"? I'm having problems with the new version. When I post a photo, trying to use the method you show at the beginning of this thread (IMG: Resolution: 640 x 480), the photo posts very large. I'm hoping you can help me, I can't figure out how to post photos now. Thank you, Tex
Normally I re-size my pictures in Picture Publisher (Photoshop-like application) before uploading to Photobucket, but I'll try re-sizing one in PB and see how it goes...
This one is starting out at 1024 wide by 1440 tall:
OK, that worked.
Now I'll try reducing it. It should wind up 455 wide by 680 tall...
There! After reloading the page, the picture is now 455 x 680, so it worked ok for me.
I noticed that they have changed the re-sizing process slightly. You still need to click on "Edit" just above the thumbnail. Then, when the image opens, click on "Resize". They give you several different ways to re-size -- sliders, percentages, common presets, etc. Just be sure that once you have selected the new size, and the image is reduced, you need to click "Replace Original" at the bottom of the screen -- this tells Photobucket to overwrite the original larger image with the smaller one.
If it still doesn't work for you next time, go ahead and post the picture as a link, and I'll re-size it for you. No problem.
