I have a SB 9A thats ready to be reassembled after cleaning, i just have to finish the bench top. The bench is made of 1-1/2" square tubing, 3/16" thick. I was going to have a wooden top to the bench made of laminated 2x4's, with the top being about 3" tall.
I was originally going to bolt the lathe directly to the bench top, but i'm wondering how you guys feel about adding a couple metal cross braces to the frame, and having the lathe bolt directly to those with some threaded rod. So really, the lathe would be mounted on threaded rod studs approximately 3" long.
