Can anyone help me with comparability of the the reverse tumbler bracket and gear set from a model "0" to al later model bracket?
If I go with VFD drive can eliminate counter shaft?
Thanks
Jeff
I would recommend against trying to eliminate the countershaft. In order to be able to generate the torque you need at low speeds needed for most turning operations, you'll need quite a large motor and quite a large current capacity on the VFD.
You'll be money and frustration ahead if you keep the countershaft to deal with the speed reduction and torque multiplication you need so that you can use a reasonably-sized motor and VFD module.
I would expect the Series O lathes and later lathes to have completely different headstocks, and so, different reverser bracket. Some smaller parts might interchange, like the oiler or gears.
