SB 13" Gearbox Shaft

I pick up a SB 13" from a school it seems they did not change gears often nor did they oil the gearbox. I need to make a new shaft for the gearbox. Trying to decide best way to cut the two opposing .150 slots, I have a Bridgeport mill to cut the slots on.

Is a slot cuter the best option? if so what width cutter is is best as I have not found a .150 width cutter.

There are few guys on the board that live and breath South Bend Lathe parts, why not wait a few days and see if the part is offered to you at a price that makes you reconsider making a replacement?
