Thanks to all who contribute, you have been invaluable.
Recently acquired a 9A serial 167XXX. Its the oddest colors of red and yellow.
During teardown, I thought I'd find evidence of the orig color...... Well, either
it came this way or the guy who painted it was the most anal person I've ever
run across. Is it possible it came from factory yellow(green tint or oil is giving it
a slight greenish tint) with red accents on the levers, wheels, backgear, etc????
Oh yeah, the gear cover is Green and doesnt match anything.
Thanks again
Bob

I found the picture below while going thru the pics everyone post of their SB's
It was posted by a gentleman who hasn't posted in a couple 3 or 4 yrs in a
neighboring state. Hope to get into some on the history of my machine and
it might lend a clue as to how 2 yellow and red SB's ended up in TX and NM.

Here is a pic of my 9A upon arrival home

While not exactly the same and 20-odd yrs apart, still close enough to cause one to wonder....
anyway, just thought it interesting.

South Bend allowed customers to have their machines painted custom-colors if they opted for it. Other than that, the gray paint was standard.
Also, remember that people rebuilt/repainted machines for years, so this could have been a restoration from many years ago.
