Anybody know what SB catalogue part # CE1600 machine oil is?
Or what oil do South Bend vertical mill spindle bearings take?
Sorry for posting on the lathe site but figured other SB guys might know.
Thanks!

CE1600 is referred to as "Light" machine oil on the South Bend label, with a Saybolt Universal Viscosity of 100 seconds @ 100 degress F.
Hope that helps.

Short answer- Velocite 10...AKA ISO22

Good source is JTSmachinery...about 25 bucks IIRC for a gallon of ISO 22 spindle oil, likely enough to last longer than you.:)

Their site sucks, best to just call and place orders over the phone.

Thanks for the reply.
I had the same info from the mill operating manual and hit a dead end on the Saybolt viscosity.
Looks like "Plastic" got me going.
Thanks again you guys.
