Swells: It is not what is LOR but who was LOR! I have been told that those are the first letters of the first, middle and last name of the man that scraped the bed of the lathe. I have forgoten the name of the man that told me that but he had worked for South Bend. Gary P. Hansen

posted numbers and info, thanks

gunsmith,
1946,12-Speed Flat belt Horizontal Motor Drive-Adjustable bench lathe. If you e-mail Dewitt at Leblond he will give you the line card information which might tell the ship date and customer. I would like the ship date if you get the info.

I just sold my 11" SB to a friend (to help finance a 16" SB).

The serial number on the 11" is J870. SB told me it was made in 1911. I was the third owner.

My 'new' 16" serial number is 138792. It has 'D.W.W." and a US navy stamp near the serial number. It's got a 6' bed, QC gear box, and a taper attachment.

Somehow, I missed this thread, here's my info for you,
Serial # 130444
Cat# 113-B
Year- 1942
Singletumbler

LeBlonde says, shipped to the Naval Training Center in Kalifornia in 1942, with taper attachment and chip pan. No collet closer set up. Sadly, the taper attach was gone long before I got custody of it.

Gunsmith, Thank you. You have expanded the numbers in 1945 for me, I'll change the data on your lathe.

Great Job
