There really isn't a manual. Look for the book entitled "How to run a lathe". There are copies available all over the web.
You might also want the Southbend lathe repair manual published by ILION.

There aren't any better sources of information.
Between the information in the catalogs and the parts diagrams available it's as good most machine manuals. You have to search for your size and model but it's most likely there.
