South Bend 13 Question

Hi guys, I im in the process of restoring my SB 13 and have just finished with the apron. My question is I don't remember if the worm screw in the back that the lead screw goes through is suppose to spin with ease or of it is suppose to be hard or not able to turn by hand. Any help would be appreciated.

Is your clutch engaged? My lathe is only a 9a but fwiw will not turn easily if the feeds are engaged but with the clutch disengaged it will turn easily.
