South Bend Cat. # 382-z question

Hi everyone,

I am looking at a South Bend 9" Cat # 382-z and was wondering what fair price would be for these older lathes. I know this varies with location and tooling, but in this case he has nothing other than the machine and a steady rest. It has the free standing cast legs on it and the top mount motor and pullies. I feel like this is maybe worth $4-500 without tooling, and want to make sure I am in the right ballpark. I don't know what shape the bed is in, but I will try to post some pictures if possible.

Thanks,

Thanks,

I have seen a 10L listed and it had drawers of tooling and extras, and I could see that going for $1500-2000, but this one is laking that. Just wanted to make sure I am not going to offend someone with an offer.
