I've wanted a SB drill press for a while now. I finally picked one up. When I got it home and started looking at it closer I noticed it had a switch for the light but no light. I went to Vintage Machinery to see what the light looked like, maybe I had one kick'n around. Wow, none of them had their lights. Must be a rare accessory. Then I looked at a parts drawing and saw the light is tucked up behind the quill in the main body casting. Doh!
I like the built in light, but was wondering, 1) am I the only one numb enough not to find the light for a while, 2) does the drill bit cast a shadow on the work and make the light placement less than ideal?

2. The light is a nice touch but it could of been designed better, perhaps with a reflector. I use my SB DP light occasionally, but on my old Delta it doesn't have a light and I don't seem to miss it.

I'll have to look for a hollow. mine doesn't have a switch but wonder if the castings vary.
