South Bend Lathe

I just acquired a South Bend Lathe and I was wanting to get some information on it if at all possible. I have tried to google all the numbers that I found to even find out how old it is or what its worth, but I am unable to find anything.. If you could please help me that would be great.. Here is the information that I found on it..

Catalog no 8187-A

48 inch bed & a 10L swing

Bench number 1636-6D-1045

Serial no 135315

Taper attachment

made for inside and outside threading

I might add that I am also interested in selling this

That Lathe was made about 1943.

I did notice last night it has a war tag on it if that means anything.

Just confirms that it was made during the war years and conforms to the restrictions of the day....these machines were also finished to a lesser degree..ie- they didn't put much effort into making them pretty...that does not make it any less desirable to,those looking for such machines.

Condition is EVERYTHING..Pics are your best friend here.

Also a tool room lathe. If you are lucky, it may not have done a lot of work, as in being a production lathe.
