I have a Southbend model A with horizontal motor mount. My motor just shorted out and I am looking for a replacement motor until I can find someone to rebuild my original one. The mounting holes are further apart than the standard ones and my shaft is 3/4 inch and sits 4" o/c off the base. Any help would be appreciated I do not want to drill out new holes in the mount to accept a different motor unless absolutely necessary There is no frame number on my motor 5KC63AB776 I can possibly make a adapter plate but also not sure what motor would be the best replacement. Thanks

    rinocbernard,

When you say indexing plates, are referring to the plates for the indexing attachment? If so, I just saw a set the other day from a 10L. And I bet he would sell them. Can you be more specific? Having seen them, I do not see why some could not be cut on a waterjet. Maybe even a plasma cam. Looking for a specific spacing?

Since I can't seem to reach any of the people or sites in the above links I'll post here in hope of finding a part for my SBHeavy10 under drive unit.
    I'm looking for the adjusting bolt item #25 - pt# PT2569RT1.
It's an approximately 3/4" ball on the end of a 1/2" bolt 4" in length.

Does anybody have a suggestion on where to look or who might have a link to an active site?

You can make a ball easy with a spherical tool......Could take a bigger diam bolt and machine it down??

Hi Putnam. Your lathe is a model (catalog number) CL 187. It is a 10L (often called a "heavy ten"). It has the wide range, quick change gearbox, and large spindle bore for the 10 inch (1.375" i.d.). Your serial number dates the machine late 1961 early 1962.
There are two members here who could help with the "plates":
sblatheman...good resource for parts and often plates
and jkull makes all the plates for your machine (they are not etched, but screened, but, beautiful replacements)

hope this helps.By the way, nice score. The 10L is a very user friendly light weight lathe.Good luck.PB

Any source for a SB 13" compound ball crank retaining nut and roll pin? If the part is uncommon in the replacement realm, does anyone have info on making one?

    Thanks
