I'm trying to disassemble my '42 16" lathe to move and repaint/refurb. I have gotten to the lathe bed and pedestals, and am having trouble. It is fitted with a factory automatic carriage stop, and I can't disassemble it. Seems there is a pin blocking the bolt holding the pivot arm which is mounted through to the bed. Does anyone know how this is meant to come apart? Any one ran into this before?

I wish I had information for you, but I've never seen a factory automatic carriage stop on a SB lathe. I have a 1943 16" machine nearing completion of a full restoration. I would love to see detailed photos of what this system looks like if you have time to post them. Thanks.

I will gladly take some photos. It's a neat system, with a different lead screw. It is in a couple parts and may be a few days until i get pics.
