    Default Type B & C Oil Question

I've read everything I can on oils for the Southbend 9, and do not wish to start another debate on oil choices. But, do have one question. I am looking for what products might work for the Type B and C oils, an area where general consensus is not nearly so clear. I am considering Mobil Machine Oil DTE ISO Grade 32 (B oil) and ISO Grade 68 (C oil). Or, just non-detergent car oil in 10W and 20W?

I am already settled on Mobil Velocite #10 for the spindle and Vactra #2 for the ways.

You will be fine with the Mobil machine oils. The only non-detergent oil I have seen around here is in 30W so since I had to order anyway, I figured I should go with a product that is actually labeled "machine oil." Not that a automobile isn't a machine but I like seeing the jugs of oil lined up under the lathes.

BTW - I use my way oil in place of Type C. It's the same viscocity and I have never had problem with it. Also, it sticks pretty good on the side gears.
