Hopeless newbie here. Love my lathe but the casting that engages the compound base has crumbled away right where the bolt needs to be when cutting standard threads. I'm turning backwards and holding the tool upside down as a work-around but this is not always the best. I'm not sure how many of this type of cross slide were made as the tapered post mount used on later machines seems much more robust and practical. If anyone has one of these laying around please let me know. I don't want to upgrade to the newer style as I have already made several mounts and jigs to fit this one.
Thanks!
