Mitutoyo 12" calipers were 125.00 10 yrs. ago. I'd say the price is pretty reasonable for someone wanting a quality pair of 18" calipers.
I've never seen any like those. They look like a bobbed of height gage

I agree. If I were in the market for such a set of calipers, I would jump on these. I bet these sold for $300-400 20 years ago.
