they are for a larger lathe ..gib is just over a foot long

You're going to have to provide more information, specifically dimensions, ie; height, width at both ends, and length. Monarch made many different sizes and models.

measuring will be difficult as all 4 sides are tapered

does it have a notch for the gib screw at the big end? Also, as for dimensions, just measure the width of the flats at each end, total of 4 measurements.

no there are no notches
i have different lenghs 1 foot longer and shorter plus and minus 2 inches
the shape is a parallelogram in inches large end: 0.530 x 0.542
smaller end : 0.282 x 0.542
this meausurement is from a 1 foot and 2 eights of an inch long gib
the longer ones the the large end will be bigger and shorter smaller

this is becaming a mistery
i bought them from ebay hoping i could cut one to fit on an hardinge compound but they bigger than could see in the picture just trying to get some of money back
